No biopsy.

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 by Susan

So the nephrologist and the rheumatologist got together and thought about it and thought about it and figured, we probably don’t need the renal biopsy.  If the biopsy was negative, Dan would still get treated with Cytoxan.  If it was positive, then he definitely would get treated with Cytoxan so not much difference either way.  [...]

More Zelda.

Monday, April 23rd, 2007 by Susan

So I’m home by my lonesome self.  Dan went car camping with Jeff and Lora and some of their friends.  I got home early from a shift today (whoo hoo!) and plopped myself in front of the TV and played Wii Zelda.  Since I have mostly taken over the video game, I’ve passed Dan now [...]

Our New Car.

Saturday, April 21st, 2007 by Susan

Buying a new car definitely requires some preparation and some thought.  Those salespeople are just dying to swoop in to steal your money!  So Dan and I got on a 2006 Xterra kick because as we were leaving the Roseville Nissan dealership, the salesperson said, “Hey, what about an ‘06?”  Well, we noticed that they seemed [...]

Obsessed with Zelda.

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 by Susan

Oh my god.  I can’t believe it.  I always thought I wasn’t much of a video game person but I am OBSESSED with playing “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” on the Wii.  Dan and I have been playing concurrent games and usually, he’s a little ahead of me so he helps me out with [...]

Odds and Ends.

Monday, April 16th, 2007 by Susan

While the kidney biopsy is not done yet, we’re pretty sure now that Dan has Wegner’s Granulomatosis.  Read about it here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/wegeners-granulomatosis/DS00833/DSECTION=1.  He has been taking prednisone which is a steroid that tunes down the immune system which has really made a big difference in his symptoms.  While he does have some joint and muscle [...]

What I Finished Reading….

Friday, April 13th, 2007 by Susan

While hanging out in the emergency department and in Dan’s room over the last few days, I re-read “Tears of a Giraffe” by Alexander McCall Smith, book #2 in the “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” series.

Home.

Friday, April 13th, 2007 by Susan

He’s home, he’s home!  He’s moving better, no more PID shuffle.  :)  He’s taking a shower which is a good thing since he hasn’t done in that in about 3 days.  His anti-GBM antibiodies are negative but still waiting for ANCA results.  He has three doctors’ appointments, one with the rheumatologist (the autoimmune specialist), the [...]

Better.

Thursday, April 12th, 2007 by Susan

So most of you all who read this blog know that Dan is in the hospital for the second time.  He has been there for 2 days and 2 nights.  While we don’t have any definite answers, things are looking more and more like an autoimmune vasculitis.  For those who aren’t familar, here’s a little [...]

Tired and worried.

Monday, April 9th, 2007 by Susan

Dan wrote a pretty comprehensive narrative about the events over the last few days so I would refer you to his blog site (http://www.delcollo.us/blog, see entry for April 8th) for what’s been going on.  Dan worked for just over 5 hours today at Rideout and when he came home, he went to bed.  He looked [...]
